Bookmark, notes and read-later extension
mévoire — a home for what stays.
A personal memory for your reading. Save the page you are on, an excerpt, a term or a note in one click, and find it all again organised, readable and within reach, on desktop and phone.
What mévoire is
mévoire is a reading and bookmark manager for people who read a lot and do not want to lose what stayed. It gathers in one library what usually lives scattered: links to read later, highlighted excerpts, words to explore, notes and jottings. It works as a Chrome extension and as a web app at mevoire.com, installable on iPhone and Android.
Unlike browser bookmarks, mévoire keeps the article text and the page description, so you can read offline and see what something is about without opening the site. And it organises everything with tags that behave like folders and subfolders.
Three gestures: arrives, keep, think
Inbox arrives
The queue of what came in: articles to read, excerpts to explore, “Continue reading” where you left off. Quick capture of notes, links and excerpts.
Library keep
Everything you saved, always visible. Filters by state, favourites, terms and excerpts, collections and spaces. A side explorer of tags as folders.
Notes think
Free notes or notes linked to an article, on a board you arrange as you like.
Features
- Save in one click. Toolbar button, ⌘⇧S (Ctrl+Shift+S) shortcut or right-click menu: page, link, term or selected excerpt.
- Offline text. The article is saved with the reference; read it in a clean reader, offline, with reading progress.
- Tags as folders. Write “reading/essays” and you get the folder reading with the subfolder essays. Add or remove tags on any card.
- Deep search. Search titles, article text, excerpts, notes and tags, accent-insensitive.
- Visible or hidden. What you no longer want in view leaves the Library without being deleted; search still finds it.
- Spaces and collections. Separate personal life, work or projects; move references between spaces.
- Web app for your phone. Install mevoire.com on iPhone or Android and use it offline.
- Optional sync. With an account, the library follows you across devices. Without one, it stays in your browser only.
- Import and export. Import HTML bookmarks from any browser; export everything as JSON or Markdown.
- English and Portuguese. Bilingual interface, light and dark mode.
Different from browser bookmarks
Bookmarks keep an address and a title. mévoire keeps what matters: the text, the description, your notes, the exact excerpt, the reading state. That is why it serves both as a read-later tool and as a place for jottings, building a personal library that is still useful months later.
No imposed structure. Plain tags that become folders when you need them, an inbox for what arrives, and a library where everything stays visible.
Privacy by design
The extension stores no data and contacts no servers of its own: it hands the capture to mevoire.com, inside your browser. No analytics, no ads, no remote code.
Without an account, the library lives in the browser’s local storage. With an account, it syncs to a database hosted in the European Union, guarded by rules that only let each person read their own data.
Frequently asked questions
- Is mévoire free?
- Yes. The Chrome extension and the web app at mevoire.com are free, with no ads.
- Does it work offline?
- Yes. The web app installs on phone and desktop and opens without a connection; articles saved with offline text can be read anywhere.
- Do I need an account?
- No. Without an account everything stays in your browser. An account only serves to sync the library across devices.
- Where is my data stored?
- On your device. If you enable sync, in a database hosted in the European Union, accessible only to you. You can export everything as JSON or Markdown at any time.
- Does it work in Firefox or Safari?
- The extension is for Chrome and other Chromium browsers (Brave, Edge, Arc). The library at mevoire.com opens in any browser and installs as an app on iPhone and Android.
- How do I make folders and subfolders?
- With tags: “topic/subtopic” creates the folder topic with the subfolder subtopic. Every level stays a plain tag you can filter on.
- Can I import the bookmarks I already have?
- Yes. Export your browser bookmarks as HTML and import them into mévoire, with folders preserved as collections.
- What happened to Marks?
- Marks is now called mévoire and the library moved to mevoire.com. If you used the previous version, your old library is still on the extension’s welcome page, ready to export and import.
